Become an Apprentice

I always conduct risk assessments before approaching the job in hand. I study the drawings to ensure that the necessary elements are manufactured to the required standard and tolerance. I work with my colleagues and supervisors to get the task completed. I also seek their support when something is not clear or I do not understand.
It is very important to remain focused on the task being performed and to not allow yourself too much distraction. Manufacturing elements to given standards and tolerances requires attention and discipline.
My personal highlight has been working on the M27 Hamble Crossing project. This was to install two walkways under the M27 bridge over the river Hamble in Hampshire. These walkways will allow the Highways Agency to inspect the bridge bearings without the need to wait for the correct tidal conditions, and access the bridge by boat.
have always been technically inclined ever since I can remember. It must have started as early as my first LEGO set and other construction related activities, back in the days when I was still a child. I only realized that I wanted to make a career out of it much later, in my late 20s.
I decided to do an apprenticeship because it is the best way to learn the trade safely and gain experience of best practice. The time that I spent at SETA initially for my 'off the job' training gave me a really good grounding in various elements of the role and how to approach them correctly ensuring my safety and that of those around me while at work.
I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who wants to be a welder/fabricator so that you learn safely and correctly from the beginning as there are many risks involved in this type of role.
