OVERVIEW
CompEx is the national training and assessment scheme for Electrotechnical personnel who work in potentially explosive atmospheres. Potentially explosive atmospheres occur in many industries such as petrochemical and refining plants. They may also be found in spraying plants, flour mills, woodworking machine plants and petrol forecourt environments.

Failure to ensure safe and efficient working practices in these circumstances could result in the ignition of explosive gases or dust clouds leading to injury or even fatalities.

The scheme is a national training initiative between the Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association and CompEx Certification and is supported by the Health and Safety Executive.

This course is the competency certification for working with gas and vapours in potentially explosive atmospheres.

Candidates who are successful in both the theory and practical assessments will receive a CompEx E- Certificate in Core Competence. Candidates are required to take the CompEx Electrical Refresher course every five years in order to remain current.
