Inspection & Testing Refresher Course

 OVERVIEW

This course is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying; or for those with limited experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations who require refresher training before going on to achieve courses such as City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations (2391-52).

This course is also suitable for any candidate within or training to be within the industry.


COURSE CONTENT

The course will cover the specific methods of initial inspection and testing and condition reporting on all types of installations, combining a mix of both theory and practical sessions covering single and three-phase installations, to the current requirements of BS 7671. It covers the inspection and testing techniques as given in IET Guidance Note 3 and how to professionally complete Certification and Reports.

Key areas covered include:

  1. Safe Isolation Procedure
  2. The dead testing procedure and sequence
  3. Radial and ring final circuits testing procedure
  4. The live testing procedure and sequence
  5. Testers. test equipment and the safe use of
  6. Circuit design and how to anticipate test results before testing
  7. Inspection, understanding how to visually inspect and what is required for initial verification and periodic certification
  8. Testing of single phase and 2 phase simulated rigs including fault finding
  9. How to complete an Electrical Installation Certificate (to comply with BS 7671 or Guidance Note 3 and Onsite Guide)
  10. How to complete an Electrical Condition Report and Coding (to comply with BS 7671 or Guidance Note 3 and On Site Guide)

 

 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 Candidates must be 18 years old or older.

This course has no formal entry prerequisites, but we recommend you hold the City & Guilds 2382-22 18th Edition Wiring Regulations or Equivalent


COURSE DURATION

2 Days

Day 1 - Classroom theory and test simulations and ½ day practical testing single and 3 phase.
Day 2 – ½ day practical testing and Certificate and report completion in the classroom.
