Stannah Lifts Ltd

Stannah is a British family owned company, who provide elevators, escalators and moving walkways and manufacture stairlifts and platform lifts, and offer repairs and servicing 24 hours a day 365 days a year.  The family is now in their fifth generation and play a hands-on role in running the business, ensuring the family ethos and values are maintained, with members of the 6^th generation also commencing their careers at Stannah.

We are a company who are pioneers of forward thinking, we never forget that vital to our success are the amazing people who work for us and the commitment we have to our customers. Our founder, Joseph Stannah, wrote a letter to ‘The Engineer’ on 1^st February 1889 stating ‘…. It is undoubtedly the duty of every engineer to instruct their share of the rising generation, but it is also their duty to do it in such a way as shall conduce most to the general prosperity of the future.’

Our commitment to Apprentices over many years has been part of our success at Stannah, and we continue to seek opportunities to develop career paths that commence at this level. Having the ability to recruit, train, mentor and provide long term development opportunities allows us to plan for the future with confidence. Many of our existing managers across all areas of our business started as Apprentices and have worked their way through to lead successful teams.

The introduction of the Apprentice Levy has allowed Stannah to develop newer programmes that cover more than the traditional Engineering areas (mechanical, electrical, lift maintenance/installations and fabrication & welding). The various operating companies now also offer a broad range of Apprenticeships that include Management/Leadership (from Team Leader to Masters), Quality Assurance, B2B Sales (to degree level), Digital Marketing, Commercial Bids and Tenders, IT Software Developer, Construction Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Cyber Security (degree level) and Business Administration. All of this is made possible by having positive working partnerships with our Training Providers such as SETA.
