Cakes, Bakes and Cookies - SETA hosts a Macmillan Coffee Morning!
SETA hosted a wonderful cake sale as part of The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning to help raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The Apprentice Council got on board and helped to man the stall during breaks and lunchtime to ensure the smooth running of the event.
One of our staff, Nikki Mason – Commercial Team Leader, became a Star Baker on the run up to the event baking from dawn to dusk to ensure that the tables were laden with an array of wonderful and mouth-watering goodies. Items included biscuits, various cookies, fairy cakes, and not forgetting an OldSkool Tray Bake covered in hundreds and thousands. The most popular with the apprentices were definitely the Chocolate Brownies and Chocolate Victoria Sponge, and in the staff room it was the Lemon Drizzle Cake. For those wanting gluten free the Flapjacks went down a treat.
The event made £200 and will be going to a great cause. By taking part and donating for goodies and bakes at cakes sales, coffee mornings and events like these around the country, £3,400,340 has so far been raised (as at 8th of October 2021). This could fund 63 Macmillan nurses for a year.
Cancer can affect people’s whole lives – health, money, family, job; everything. And, after more than 100 years of caring, Macmillan understand that the most important thing is to treat people as individuals, not patients.
So with the funds raised from cakes sales, sponsored events etc allows them to take the time to understand they support, to help people to live their lives as fully as they can. This is from the moment of diagnosis through to whenever they’re most needed – including palliative and end of life care. Their help is totally focused on each individual person, so everyone receives the support that’s best for them.
We are already making plans to host a further sale in the New Year.
