SEND School Awards July 2023
July has seen The Engagement Services Team at SETA having the lovely role of presenting awards to some amazing young people from local SEND schools that we work with. This year has seen the inaugural “SEND School Award” for students demonstrating outstanding achievement during this academic year.
The awards were kindly sponsored by the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and saw each of the students receive an Amazon voucher for them to spend on what they want.
As it was the inaugural year, the students were the lucky recipients of an additional contribution from the Solent LEP. With input from their schools this is to be spent wisely on items that will go towards continuing their interest in practical engineering.
Harry, pictured with his parents and his certificates, was the deserving winner from Southlands School at Lymington. With a love for all things trains and railway engineering, he is looking forward to putting his voucher towards his own PPE so that he can continue volunteering with steam trains without having to borrow items.
“Harry really is a joy to work with.” said the SEND Programme Tutor. He continued “He has become more confident during his time at SETA and is always prepared to try his hand at anything that is put forward.”
Bradley from Coxlease school, pictured receiving his award from Michelle Rolfe, Engagement Services Co-ordinator at SETA, was the worthy winner. Bradley is also looking to put his voucher towards PPE as this will encourage him to ultimately work towards his CSCS card within the engineering sector.
The SEND Programme Tutor at SETA said “Bradley has really come a long way since he started and is producing really nice clean work. He is doing a stellar job with the paperwork side of the Performing Engineering Operations qualification that he is working towards, even though he doesn’t like paperwork.”
